What is the KnowItNow Toolbar Project?
To build upon the success and popularity of the KnowItNow project, North East Ohio Regional Library System has developed an Internet Explorer Toolbar. This toolbar provides quick and convenient access to the KnowItNow Project including the KnowItNow Reference Service, HomeworkNow, and ReadThisNow services. NEO-RLS will also be including toolbar icons for users to access the OPLIN databases along with other helpful features including blocking pop-up ads. Why Add the KnowItNow Toolbar?
Research indicates the users with toolbars installed are very likely to use the sites supplying the toolbars on a regular basis (some research indicates users of toolbars provided by search engines, such as Google, use that service for more than 98% of their online searches). We believe that a similar trend could be anticipated for library patrons.


Why customize the toolbar?
NEO-RLS is willing to work with Ohio libraries who are interested in the development of a locally customized version of this toolbar allowing users to quickly search their library catalog and to link to other locally developed and relevant resources.
