MediaWiki Hosting

While most librarians agree that Wikipedia may not be the best tool for reference information, we can agree that the engine that runs it is full featured and very useful.  That engine that drives Wikipedia is called MediaWiki and is the foremost wiki software on the internet.  MediaWiki supports rich content, provides many features beyond hyperlinks for structuring content, has features related to restricting access and defining user groups, and supports complete customization that we have come to expect from Web 2.0 applications.

For $50 a year for members and $100 for nonmembers NEO can host a MediaWiki Wiki for your library and with your domain name (ex wiki.mylibrary.org).  NEO will handle the setup, maintenance, and backup.  Your library provides the content and design or NEO can help your library create a unique design for your wiki.

For more information, contact Shawn Walsh (330-847-7744 ext. 14) at NEO-RLS.

If you need help setting up MediaWiki at your library, integrating it into your website, or need training on MediaWiki contact NEO for these services also.
