Digitization and Born Digital Records in Local Archives

Join us on Wednesday, May 18th, at 6:30 pm, via Zoom, for a panel discussion on digitization and born digital materials. Mazie Adams, Executive Director, Cleveland Police Museum; Virginia Dressler, Digital Projects Librarian, Kent State University; and Michael Scharer-Zielinski, Digital Archivist and Preservation Manager, Western Reserve Historical Society will describe some of their current and ongoing projects. Issues to be addressed include digitization of items in a local museum, the organization of individual digital exhibits, and efforts to begin the acquisition of born digital resources.

This promises to be a useful discussion for all of us concerned about how to make our collections accessible to a wider public. It will also prove helpful to those considering how to acquire and handle born digital records. To RSVP, please send an e-mail to smartin@wrhs.org. An email with the Zoom link will be sent closer to the time of the event.

Please share with colleagues who may not yet be members of CAR or with anyone else you think may be interested in the topic.

Hope to see you on Zoom!
