From The State Library

Free PPE to Libraries
The Ohio Department of Health, in collaboration with the State Library of Ohio, is again offering PPE at no charge to local libraries to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 among library visitors and staff. The State of Ohio purchased the PPE with federal CARES Act funds for the purpose of responding to the public health emergency with respect to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The State Library does not administer the survey or distribute the PPE.

Submit a request at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/StateLibraryPPERequests

The PPE is available as a first come, first served opportunity. Libraries that previously received PPE through this initiative are eligible to submit a request.  The state reserves the right to adjust orders if the requests are too large to fill.

The Department of Education is seeking proposals for a share of the $89 million Summer Learning and Afterschool Opportunities Grant available for school and community-based partners that provide out-of-school time services. To be eligible, libraries and other community-based organizations must partner with a local education agency (LEA; i.e. school board). Awarded grant funds will be used to establish or expand comprehensive afterschool programs and/or evidence-based summer learning and enrichment programs.

Potential grantees must submit an intent to apply by February 1. Grant proposals are due February 22.

To get any questions answered, a Virtual Bidders Conference has been designed to help applicants learn more about the opportunity and requirements of these federal funds. The Bidders Conference will provide additional details about this grant and will be held this Friday, January 21, 8 - 10 a.m. Potential bidders are not required to attend this meeting. It will be recorded and posted on the Department webpage following the live presentation. Use this link to join the virtual bidders conference at the scheduled time. There is no need to register.

This program is priced at $50 (compare the Aquarium’s usual price of $90 for a 45-minute virtual program).

Ohio public libraries may also purchase at half price a 4-pack of admission vouchers to use as SLP prizes. See the Greater Cleveland Aquarium special offer flyer for details on both offers:
