Call for Proposals

Call for Proposals: OLC Technical Services Retreat 2022

OLC's Technical Services Action Council is calling for proposals for their 2022 Retreat, which will be held at the Nationwide Conference Center, 100 Green Meadows Dr S, Lewis Center, OH 43035, April 13-14, 2022.
With the theme of “Change. Adapt. Excel,” the TS Action Council is interested in programming for technical services librarians. The OLC Technical Services Retreat (formerly known as the “Mohican Retreat”) has historically attracted a mix of public, academic, and special librarians, management and support staff, and library colleagues from Ohio and neighboring states. Break-out sessions will be one hour in length, including some time for Q&A. We welcome all topics of interest to specific areas of technical services (such as cataloging, acquisitions, and processing) as well as topics focused on management and professional development. The break-out sessions could take the form of a single or team presentation, hands-on workshop, panel discussion, or other formats suitable for effective content delivery in a  one-hour slot. Some suggested topics include:
 * Changes and trends in technical services (What have you stopped doing? What are you doing differently?)
 * Hands-on workshops to gain or sharpen skills
 * Programming on personal and professional growth and self-care
 * How TS can make library services and access to information more inclusive
 * Triage for damaged materials (including de-odorizing otherwise salvageable items)

Proposals should be sent to Jill Baird (jbaird@mrcpl.org) no later than December 8, 2021.

Please indicate the name and contact information for all proposed speakers/presenters, a suggested title and short explanation of the content, and whether your availability would be restricted to certain dates (April 13, 14, or both). Note that the OLC cannot reimburse Ohio library community presenters but speakers will receive a discounted registration rate.
