Guiding Ohio Online Technology Trainers
The State Library of Ohio is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for public libraries to host a Guiding Ohio Online Technology Trainer.  The State Library’s Guiding Ohio Online program, supported by federal LSTA funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, targets public libraries in Ohio that serve rural populations, in order to help Ohioans develop digital skills needed to fully participate in the digital age. Trainers will serve in selected libraries during the program year, October 1, 2021-June 30, 2022**.  Applications and proposed budget forms for Guiding Ohio Online can be found here and are due May 28, 2020.
**Please note the abbreviated grant period for 2021-2022.

The COVID-19 pandemic has amplified the need for access to technology and digital literacy skills.  Ohio’s libraries have always filled this need, and it’s now more important than ever.  Guiding Ohio Online is a great opportunity to provide more technology programming, outreach, and services with LSTA grant funds.

State Library staff will conduct a live webinar on the Guiding Ohio Online application process on Tuesday, April 6 from 1-2 p.m.  Whether you’re a current Guiding Ohio Online library or considering joining the program for the first time, come to the virtual training session to learn about the program in general, how it works, how it’s funded, the reporting required, and how to apply. After attending the webinar, interested libraries can request appointments to receive assistance with filling out their applications and budget sheets from State Library staff.

Registration is required for the live training.

CLSP
CSLP is asking for suggestions from librarians nationwide for:
A CSLP theme is a general topic to frame SLP programming, decorations, etc., such as music or space.
A CSLP slogan is the catchphrase or name of the SLP, based on the theme, such as “Libraries Rock” or “A Universe of Stories.” A good slogan is memorable and enlivens the theme. The slogan must be appropriate for all age groups (early literacy, children, teens, adults) and the concept of it must be translatable to Spanish.

Past CSLP slogans are listed here: www.cslpreads.org/programs/years-of-cslp-themes/ and future themes and slogans are listed here: www.cslpreads.org/programs/future-programs/.
The 2021 theme is Animals and the slogan is “Tails and Tales.”

Suggest the themes and slogans you’d like to have for your SLP!
Complete this survey to suggest up to 3 slogans for 2024 and 3 themes for 2025:
www.surveymonkey.com/r/cslp_24slogan_25theme

All questions are optional. There is also a feedback opportunity, should you have any other suggestions for the CSLP or any questions.

Multiple staff members from your library may respond to this survey. Each respondent should complete the survey separately.

The deadline to submit theme and slogan suggestions is 9:00 am on Monday, April 12. I will compile the suggestions from Ohio librarians and submit to CSLP. They will be considered along with suggestions from the other states and territories, and will be decided at the CSLP’s virtual Annual Meeting later this year.

All Ohio public libraries are members of CSLP and have input and access to their materials, thanks to support from federal Institute of Museum and Library Services LSTA funds administered by the State Library of Ohio.
