NEO-RLS Welcomes New Board Members

Meet our newest Board members!

Andrea Legg (Geographic Member Library) recently began her position as Director of the North Canton Public Library on April 13th. Prior to this, she worked at the Tuscarawas County Public Library System for over ten years as both Assistant Director and as Extension & Technical Services Manager. She is passionate about accessibility of library services and inclusion. Andrea serves on both the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the executive board of Changing Perspectives, Inc.

In 2012, Melissa Mallinak (Zone 4 Library) started her public library career at the Elyria Public Library System, graduated from Kent State University with her M.L.I.S. and became a member of Beta Phi Mu. In 2018, she became the Director of the Loudonville Public Library.

Trent Ross (Zone 1 Library), has worked as the Deputy Director of Rocky River Public Library since May 2017. There he works to cultivate a culture of innovation and professional growth where staff feels empowered to discover, connect, and engage with the community's needs. Before his time at RRPL, he gained experience in managing Adult Reference, Circulation, and Technical Services departments; and previously worked at the Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library and Pickaway County District Public Library.

In addition, we welcome returning Board members, Kris Carroll (Zone 1 Library), Assistant Director of Geauga County Public Library, Michelle Alleman (Zone 3 Library), Director, McKinley Memorial Library and Leslie Cade, Director of Museum Archives, Cleveland Museum of Art, Ingalls Library and Archives (Special Library).

All of our new Board members will serve three year terms culminating on June 30, 2023.  Please join us in congratulating them!  Together we are maximizing library potential!

Leadership Opportunities – Volunteers Wanted!

Getting involved in a NEO-RLS Board Committee is a great way to learn, network and have an impact on the libraries in the region.  There is a place at the table for everyone, member or not, interested in working with us as we continue serving the region’s libraries in the most relevant, cost-effective and beneficial manner possible.

We are looking for volunteers to serve on the NEO-RLS Board Committees for Awards, Bylaws/Policy, Finance, Marketing/PR, Multi-Type Library and Technology.  NEO-RLS Board Committees (excepting Finance) generally meet two times per year.  This coming year, committees will meet virtually via Zoom (excepting Finance and Personnel which will meet in-person as appropriate after the beginning of 2021).

Want to help recognize the work of your colleagues?  Then the Awards Committee needs you!  Want a role in creating the rules and policies that govern the organization and the decisions made? Then the Bylaws/Policies Committee is for you!  Are you interested in learning more about how the regional’s finances are structured?  Want to have a say in how dues and other fees are determined?  Then the Finance Committee is for you!  Interested in sharing your expertise on creating effective messaging and the best ways to convey that messaging?  Then the Marketing/PR committee is for you!  Want to help engage all of our libraries in the region?  The Multi-Type Library Committee is looking for you!  Have ideas on how NEO-RLS could benefit from a technology plan?  The Technology Committee wants you!

We want your input and expertise.  If you are interested or have questions, email Betsy Lantz.

In addition we are also looking for people to serve on the summer reading committees for Children's, Teen and Adult. These meeting will take place virtually with no more than 3 meeting during the year.   Email Melissa Lattanzi by August 3rd if you are interested.

We look forward to hearing from you!
