NEO-RLS Announcements

Leadership Opportunities – Volunteers Wanted!

Getting involved in a NEO-RLS Board Committee is a great way to learn, network and have an impact on the libraries in the region.  There is a place at the table for everyone, member or not, interested in working with us as we continue serving the region’s libraries in the most relevant, cost-effective and beneficial manner possible.

We are looking for volunteers to serve on the NEO-RLS Board Committees for Awards, Bylaws/Policy, Finance, Marketing/PR, Multi-Type Library and Technology.  NEO-RLS Board Committees (excepting Finance) generally meet two times per year.  This coming year, committees will meet virtually via Zoom (excepting Finance and Personnel which will meet in-person as appropriate after the beginning of 2021).

Want to help recognize the work of your colleagues?  Then the Awards Committee needs you!  Want a role in creating the rules and policies that govern the organization and the decisions made? Then the Bylaws/Policies Committee is for you!  Are you interested in learning more about how the regional’s finances are structured?  Want to have a say in how dues and other fees are determined?  Then the Finance Committee is for you!  Interested in sharing your expertise on creating effective messaging and the best ways to convey that messaging?  Then the Marketing/PR committee is for you!  Want to help engage all of our libraries in the region?  The Multi-Type Library Committee is looking for you!  Have ideas on how NEO-RLS could benefit from a technology plan?  The Technology Committee wants you!

We want your input and expertise.  If you are interested or have questions, email me at betsy.lantz@neo-rls.org by July 30th.  Thanks!  I look forward to hearing from you.

Awards Deadline September 30th
Do you deserve an award?  Do you know someone who does?  Along with the Rising Star Award which honors a library employee with no more than five years’ experience, we now have the NEW Shooting Star Award to honor library employees who have been working in the field with more than 10 years’ of experience and the NEW Advocacy Award for those who have supported the libraries of our region through their advocacy.  The first two award recipients will be selected by our new State Librarian and presented at the annual NEO-RLS Membership Meeting.  The Advocacy Award recipient(s) will be selected by the NEO-RLS Awards Committee and presented at the Membership Meeting.  If you know someone who has had a positive impact on your library and community, please consider nominating them!  The deadline for all three awards is now September 30th and all of the information you need is on our website under Awards.  Honor the stars and advocates in our region by nominating someone today!
