Speaker:
Al Carlson has been working in libraries since 1959, professionally since 1970. During that time he has watched technology go from non existent to all encompassing. And libraries have consistently been behind the curve.
His goal now is to help libraries play like Wayne Gretzky, and skate to where the puck will be, not to where it's been.
His career has included public service, tech services, automation and management at public, school, academic and special libraries. Currently, he is the System Administrator at the Tampa Bay Library Consortium where he manages and provides support for OverDrive and Ask a Librarian programs.

Program Description: An OverDrive digital download collection is a great way for your patrons to get eBooks 24/7 any time they want a good read, provided they can get the eBook from the OverDrive site to their eReader.
This professional, current and interactive webinar with Al Carlson covers the step by step processes for each of the three families of eReaders: The Kindle family, The Nook Sony Kobo family, and the new family of smart devices that need no PC as middleman.
Are you nervous, afraid, even petrified about eReaders? Relax! If you mastered jigsaw puzzles in preschool, you can learn to sideload to a Nook. If you are able to buy a book at Amazon, you can learn how to put an OverDrive book on a real or virtual Kindle. And, even if you don't have your own smart phone or iPad, you can learn how to get and install the OverDrive Apps.
As a bonus, Al will also provide you with resources that you can use when you are working with your patrons and coworkers.
This workshop is presented by the Peoples Connect Institute. Please be advised that NEO staff members will not be facilitating this session. |
