Program Description: Keynote: Jennifer L. Holm's first book Our Only May Amelia, the story of a 12-year-old girl living in the late 1800s, inspired by a diary written by her great aunt, was a 2000 Newbery Honor Book. She is the author of several highly praised novels including the Boston Jane trilogy, the Babymouse series (on which she collaborates with her brother, Matthew Holm) and Penny from Heaven (2006). Inspired by her family's stories, her books have twice been awarded Newbery Honors, were American Library Association Notable Children's books, and on The New York Times best-selling lists. Her most recent book is Middle School Is Worse Than Meatloaf (Simon and Schuster, 2007). She lives in Fallston, Maryland.

Getting Google and Wikipedia to Work for You: Don Boozer,

Google and Wikipedia are inescapable players in today's information world. Are you uneasy admitting you use Google? Wouldn't be caught dead using Wikipedia? Contrary to popular belief, both of these online juggernauts can be useful tools if you know how, why, and when to use them. This workshop will provide tips and caveats about each of these online tools and show how to get the most out of them for you and your patrons.

TRAILS: Where we are now in assessing information literacy:
Barbara Schloman and Julie Gedeon, Kent State University School of Library and Information Science
This session will highlight TRAILS features for assessing information literacy competencies at the 6th and 9th grade levels, as well as share what TRAILS use to date has revealed about student skills. There will be an opportunity for a hands-on tour of TRAILS.

Young Adult Literature Update:
Rollie Welch, Cleveland Public Library will give an update on the latest and greatest Young Adult literature that is available to school librarians.

INFOHIO/OPLIN Databases:
While INFOhio databases cover a wide swath of resources, this session will focus on some specific core resources ideal for helping students and staff alike. Included in this hands- on session will be a review of Student Research Center, EBSCOhost Page Composer, SIRS Discoverer and other selected jewels.

Red Hot Reference Resources
Dr. Meghan Harper, Kent State University School of Library and Information Science
The purpose of this program is to provide an informative overview of new print and non-print reference resources that promote information literacy skills and support Academic Content Standards. Suggestions for using these resources to teach information literacy skills will also be included.

Alternative Forms of Fiction in Children's and & Teen Literature -Sue McCLeaf Nespeca, NEO-RLS
What is happening in children's & teen literature today? Is the present use of digital forms of communication effective in books for today's young readers? What other types of alternative formats are being explored? From novels written in free verse, blogs, IM's, emails, newspaper clippings, diary entries&Does this new type of literature entice new
