Rollie Welch, Cleveland Public Library Sarah Darer Littman, Author of Want to Go Private? Program Description: Join us for the 23rd Youth Services Symposium. This year we are focusing on teens going mobile at your library. We will start the day with our keynote presenter, Antony John, the author of Five Flavors of Dumb that was nominated for a Buckeye Book Award. Linda Braun, Technology Guru will be discussing Teens Going Mobile @ Your Library: What happens when you can have a teen book discussion group from inside the book? What does it look like if your non-fiction collection is primarily made up of apps? What if teens are coming to the library with their iPads or Kindle Fires in hand looking for resources and readers' advisory? Even if teens don't have the newest thing, ereaders or tablets, the library still has to provide information and access to them. Otherwise the divide becomes even larger. The library is the place to fill the gap. They don't have to have smartphones, even feature phones can work for some mobile connections. During this session led by Linda W. Braun, attendees with have the chance to talk about integrating tablets and mobile devices into their full array of services for teens. Then consider the world of social reading - inside book book discussions - and how apps can play an important role in the life of a library collection. Rollie Welch will be back by popular demand to share the latest and greatest in teen literature. Our closing presenter will be Sarah Darer Littman who will talk about her fourth novel, Want to Go Private?, a chilling tale about a high school freshman who becomes involved with an Internet predator. This will be a presentation via Skype. Meals: Choice of meat or vegetarian Audience: Teen librarians and those that work with teens Contact Hours: 6.0 Location: Hilton Garden Inn 8971 Wilcox Dr Twinsburg Ohio, 44087
