Muncha! Muncha!; and the beloved Boxes for Katje. Children's Literature Update: Presented by: Amanda Hoover, NEO-RLS and Hayley McEwing, Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County This will be an update on the latest and greatest K-6 literature that is available to school librarians. Meeting the STEM Initiative with INFOhio: Science, Math and Technology Resources:Presented by Paula Deal, INFOhio INFOhio, the state school library network, provides support for state education initiatives that emphasize STEM and 21st century learning. INFOhio is in the forefront of providing high-quality resources and research experiences for all Ohio students. Find out about excellent online resources including authoritative STEM reference materials for students and teachers. Demonstrations of both print, video and Web 2.0 resources will be provided. Bring History into Focus while Exploring 21st Century Literacy Skills: Presented by: Dr. Meghan Harper, KSU/SLIS Explore history with multimedia and primary sources available in free online resources while integrating 21st century literacies and addressing common core standards. This session will introduce participants to online resources that can be used in library programming, thematic units or information literacy lessons with a historical focus. The second breakout session choices: Young Adult Literature Update:Presented by: Christina Getrost, Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library and Mary Anne Nichols, Lecturer, KSU/SLIS This will be an update on the latest and greatest Young Adult (grades 7-12) literature that is available to school librarians. Electronic Art Resources for Students and Teachers: Presented by Patty Edmonson, Department of Education and Interpretation, The Cleveland Museum of Art The session will present electronic art resources created primarily by museums and libraries for students or adults working with students. We will explore examples of sources such as online museum collections, museum interactives, virtual museum tours, image databases, art process videos, art glossaries, and lesson plans. These types of resources offer material ranging from fully fleshed out lesson plans with images and standards, to art definitions, images, or themes than can be tailored to a variety of situations. Ohio Museums Electronic Resources:Presented by: Michelle Baldini, KSU/SLISMichelle will highlight 12-15 Ohio Museums (some may include: Underground Railroad, COSI, art museums in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio Historical Society, Western Reserve Historical Society, Neil Armstrong, Ohio's Presidential Homes/Museums/Libraries, Mazza Museum, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and more ). She will focus on the electronic k-12 educational resources that are available on these sites. Closing Session: Emerging Technologies: Kenny Carvalho, NEO-RLS Technology Analyst Looking for info on the latest techno-trends for teachers, schools, students, and patrons but you don't want to be overwhelmed by too many techie details? Come join Kenny Carvalho, for a discussion and a friendly show and tell program where you can learn about what's in and what's out in the world of technology. Closing Keynote:Shelley Pearsall, Award-winning Author and Educator Her first historical novel, Trouble Don't Last, was the recipient of the prestigious Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction in 2003 and her first contemporary novel, All of the Above, was a 2007 ALA Notable book.
